Kumutoto Restoration Group
The Kumutoto Stream and surrounding forest is right in the midst of Wellington, running along the original town belt. After years of neglect, this small strip of forest is in need of help to bring it back to its once thriving native beauty. The Kumutoto Restoration Group aims to bring both Victoria University biology students and the public together in order to learn from and contribute to the restoration of this piece of native bush.
Places for Penguins
The project 'Places for Penguins' is a subsidiary branch of the Forest and Bird Places for Penguins project. It is one of the Society of Conservation Biology's main projects and is focused on the Island Bay/Houghton Bay area. We monitor nest-boxes, organise beach clean ups, and look at issues that those little blues are facing in this area. We'd like to get as many locals to join this group as possible. After all it is your habitat and the little blue penguin is your neighbor (lucky you) so please join us!
This is SCB's newest project and kicks of this year. More information to come! In the mean time check out the Backyard Sactuaries website.
